My business includes two services: consulting and personal coaching. There is some over overlap between the two, as a value added consulting service is coaching individuals and teams through projects. I hosted my first coaching workshop, Absorbed in the Task at Hand, in October 2014. The topics included single-tasking and mindfulness. Fellow coach Priscilla Robinson and I set out to bust the myth of multi-tasking and to share strategies for practicing focus and mindfulness. Why is multi-tasking a myth? We can’t physically do two things at once. Instead, our minds are constantly toggling back and forth between thoughts and tasks, and there’s a cost to this.
This nature-based workshop held on an historic farmstead was well received and left participants with a lot of new ideas around the value of “finishing the task at hand.”
